Jack's Laws Of Life

12. If you have already Meta-ed as much as there is to Meta and the attendants of the meeting still have the energy to discuss the actual subject there is a second option, jibberish them to sleep. Say general non specific things in a very elaborate fashion using difficult words of which everybody doubts the meaning and which have no place in the context in which you are using them. For instance “Given the fact that we envisage the improvement of the focus on customers, I believe, no am convinced, that it is essential to ensure a thorough embedding of the proposed improvements in our company’s processes and procedures. I propose to first create an analysis of the situation at hand followed by an analysis of the desired situation. For obvious reasons these two analysis should be fully transparent to al those involved and all departments whom this concerns should be involved.” I can keep this up longer but you get the point. Al this example says is that it is important to do it well and that those two whom it is important should be involved. This is a complete and utterly useless statement. If you would hear this in a meeting your eyes would roll of and you would start a silent prayer for the speaker to shut up. Once this finally happens you are so happy the jibberish ends that you don’t even care about the utter lack of added value. You can use this phenomenon to your advantage. You cannot remain completely silent during a meeting so if everybody is looking at you for your opinion, do the jibberish. A note of caution, you can only get away with this if you use it occasionally. If you abuse your power of jibber you will lose your credibility.
